Dave Sawyer

Dave Sawyer is an instructor with the IB Comedy School and an alumni of the ImprovBoston Mainstage cast. Dave has been teaching at at ImprovBoston since 2006 and was formerly the program coordinator for the popular YAP (Yes And Practice) workshops at IB. He has taught workshops at numerous festivals including the Toronto Improv Festival, the Santa Cruz Improv Festival, Slapdash Festival (London, UK), and La Semaine De L’Impro (France). Dave has directed numerous shows at ImprovBoston including Ginsburg, a former team at IB's Harold Night, and Neutrino, an improvised video format. His two-man sketch comedy show - Sawyer and Hurley – has been featured at Philly Sketchfest, Montreal Sketchfest, and the North Carolina Comedy Arts Festival.

Shannon Connolly

Shannon has been teaching levels 101-601 of improv for the IB comedy school for the past three years. She is truly passionate about every level that the comedy school has to offer from teaching students in 101/201 the concept of agreement and furthering a scene, 301/401 her favorite format The Harold, to long form and free form shows in 501/601. Currently, Shannon has rejoined the ImprovBoston Mainstage and performs with Top Shelf’s longest running Harold Night team, Maxitor as well as her sketch/improv/musical show, Two Biddies with veteran improviser Misch Whittaker. Shannon also coaches indie teams on the side including the studio 40 cast and former students, Disco Basement. She would like to remind you to make good choices.

Sketch Comedy Writing 301: Writing & Producing a Revue

Prerequisite: SKETCH 201

Maximum Number of Students: 10

SKETCH 201

Sketch Writing 201 – Intermediate Strategies for Sketch Development: Want to take your sketches and your creative strategies to the next level? The second level of the program will introduce you to new ways to develop ideas and opportunities to write a wide variety of sketch styles. Sketch Writing 201 will hone skills like collaboration, revision, and writing topical humor.
 
Each session ends with a staged reading of student work.

Prerequisite: SKETCH 101
