David Marino

David Marino has been performing, writing, directing and coaching improv and scripted theater in the Boston area for over 20 years. In addition to performing with ImprovBoston MainStage for almost a decade, he produced several innovative shows exclusively for the theater including Archipelago, UnNatural Selection, Continuum, Center Mike, Code Duello, the attendance record-breaking Groaners and Boners, Red Alert!, and the award-winning Agent Spy, which was showcased at the 2004 Chicago Improv Festival. He has written and directed a number of plays and musicals throughout the region including the Boston One-Minute Play Festival, Shtick it to Vaudeville, and the critically acclaimed Pirate Lives: The Musical! Specializing in theater-based interpersonal communications David has been coaching industry leaders for over 25 years. Using creative and dynamic presentation techniques from scripted and improvisational theater, he engages with individuals, non-profit and for-profit companies to create inspiring and interactive leadership practices that demonstrate powerful and effective communication strategies. David is the founding director of Groaners for Donors, a performance-based fundraising production company “dedicated to raising money for your nonprofit organization by providing a unique comedy experience. We make the funny, you make the money!”

Elyse has been performing, teaching, and directing at ImprovBoston since 1999. Her favorite projects include: Radio Hour, John Hughes High, UnNatural Selection, and Misunderstood: Improvised Rock Opera. Elyse studied under such masters as Joe Bill, Susan Messing, Todd Stashwick, and Mick Napier. Elyse was a member of the Mainstage cast from 1999-2011 and currently co-produces the Women in Comedy Festival.

Nate Lopez

Nate began at ImprovBoston as a member of the Family Show in January of 2013. A product of the IB training program, Nate was previously involved with Bring Your Own Improv, a Providence based short form group. He credits his time served on the submarine USS Los Angeles and his 2 sons as the source of his "comedy." Nate has been known to be self deprecating from time to time. Please love him.

Christine Toohey

Christine Toohey is currently a cast member of ImprovBoston's National Touring Company, an instructor with the ImprovBoston Comedy School, and the coach for the Studio 40 musical improv team The Whale and the Porpoise. Previous improv casts include Face Off, Boston’s Unscripted Musical Project (B.U.M.P.), the Family Show, The Typing Pool, Improvised Hitchcock, and Motives & Alibis. She was the lead producer for GoreFest 2014. Improv directing credits include the ImprovBoston Family Show, the Princess Hour, and the Baby-Sitters Club Super Special Improv Show. Stage credits include roles with Argos Productions, Flat Earth Theatre, Independent Drama Society, and the Longwood Players. In Boston theatre, she has worked in management for New Repertory Theatre, and in marketing for the Independent Drama Society, Huntington Theatre Company, SpeakEasy Stage Company, and Commonwealth Shakespeare Company.

Kristina Smarz

Currently a member of ImprovBoston’s Mainstage, Kristina has over 20 years of experience performing, as well as directing and teaching those of all ability levels. She first joined IB in 2004 as a member of Theatersports and has since then performed with the Touring Company, Mainstage, Face Off and various showcase shows such as Slainte, Girls’ Night Out, LuvBoat, Gorefest and Spice, which she directed and co-produced. As writer and producer, Kristina was a founding member of the Ruckus and Boston News Net. She also has a handful of local commercial and theatrical credits to her name, is a member of the Improv Asylum’s NXT cast, the Majestic Theater’s in-house troupe the Majesters and is pretty handy with a pneumatic nail gun. Kristina has a BA in Theater (and English) and has studied at ImprovBoston, ImprovAsylum, Williamstown Theater Festival, numerous workshops and tends to talk to strangers. You can follow her on Twitter @Smarzipantz, but barely ever tweets so feels a pang of guilt every time she gets a new follower. She likes lots of stuff and is genuinely curious how you’re doing.

Danny Balel has been teaching and performing for over ten years. He teaches Theater at Clark University, where he oversees a Theater Education program in the Main South neighborhood of Worcester. In addition, Danny teaches at Improv Boston, everything from weekly classes, workshops, to birthday parties. Currently he is a member of Improv Boston's Touring Company and All Access, the fast flying show for all ages. Danny is a previous member of Comedy Sportz Boston and Magic the Gathering: the Improvised Show. He produces Cagematch, a weekly competitive show at Improv Boston. He lives in Davis Square, Somerville, and enjoys candied yams and big dogs. Patrick French

Patrick French has been performing as an actor and improviser throughout the Boston area since 2002. He was a member of the ImprovBoston Mainstage from 2007 – 2012, before stepping down so he had more time to change his kids' diapers. Prior to that, he performed with the Improv Asylum’s NXT cast. He has also performed in a number of ImprovBoston showcase shows over the years, including GoreFest, Crime Solving Bear & Oceans 2. He currently produces and performs in “The Angriest Show in the World,” a completely make-believe anger management seminar that inevitably spirals out of control. His awards include ImprovBoston's 2005 "Rookie of the Year," and Best Actor at Boston's 2010 48-Hour Film Festival. He has been known to get occasional commercial work - you may have seen him and heard his voiceover in numerous Papa Gino's pizza commercials, where he masterfully played the role of a hapless suburbanite whose grill has caught on fire.

Ari is a cast member of ImprovBoston's Mainstage. Before that he spent 2 and a half years on Face Off. His diverse experience spans from short form games, to hour long mono scenes, to 10 week long continuous improvised story lines. He's done 1 man shows as well as shows with 19 cast members. He loves puppies and trees and hopes you'll join him in getting silly.

Deana Criess

Deana Criess Tolliver has taught Improvisation, Sketch Writing and Stand Up to budding comedians of all ages. She is a veteran instructor at ImprovBoston and has taught comedy and drama classes at numerous schools, colleges, festivals and camp programs including the nationally acclaimed Charles River Creative Arts Program. Deana is an instructor with the ImprovBoston Comedy Camps and a facilitator for ImprovBoston Communications, IB's corporate/executive training arm. Deana is the creator and lead facilitator for ImprovBoston's Anti-Bullying Program. She is also the former Director of Education at ImprovBoston and continues to enjoy sharing the art of comedy with anyone who will listen.

Danny Balel

Danny Balel has been teaching and performing for over ten years. He teaches Theater at Clark University, where he oversees a Theater Education program in the Main South neighborhood of Worcester. In addition, Danny teaches at Improv Boston, everything from weekly classes, workshops, to birthday parties. Currently he is a member of Improv Boston's Touring Company and All Access, the fast flying show for all ages. Danny is a previous member of Comedy Sportz Boston and Magic the Gathering: the Improvised Show. He produces Cagematch, a weekly competitive show at Improv Boston. He lives in Davis Square, Somerville, and enjoys candied yams and big dogs. Danny was also interviewed by Jimmy Carrane for the Improv Nerd podcast (http://jimmycarrane.com/podcasts/122-danny-balel/).

Dana Jay Bein is the head of ImprovBoston's Standup Comedy program. He's taught standup and improv to over 1000 students between his teaching experience at ImprovBoston, the Boston Center for Adult Education and Wheelock Family. In 2008, he was featured as a comedy coach in an episode of MTV's Made.

Rob Crean is a comedian and comedy promoter in Boston. He's hosted shows for people like Marc Maron, Todd Barry, Tig Notaro and Hannibla Buress. His group Anderson Comedy released a full length DVD called "Art Film" and produce comedy shows in the Boston area.

Allen McRae

Allen McRae joined the ImprovBoston community in 2007 when he became a member of IB's first ever house sketch team The Latchkey Kids. He attended Ithaca College where he received a B.A. in Drama and then studied and performed sketch at the UCB theatre in New York City. Allen has been writing and performing sketch comedy for over 10 years, most recently as head writer of Duct Tape Revolution, World Of Hurt, master overlord of the Allen McRae Show, the producer of The Best Of Boston Sketch show and is currently as director of this summers ImprovBoston produced mainstage sketch review Comedy, America! Allen's favorite sketch is Kids In The Hall's "Girl Drink Alcoholic."
