Mike Morrell

Teaching Style: I think it's my job to make you a better improviser. If there are bad habits, let's break them, if there are weak choices, let's strengthen them, if you're doing the same thing all the time, let's play. Ill give you honest feedback that's easy to incorporate, and tell you the things I think you need to hear. I'll push you to be better and if you'd like to grow as an improviser, then I'd love to help. To check out reviews of me, go to TheMikeMorrell.com

Bio: Mike has been acting and doing comedy for 15 yrs. You may have seen him alongside Denzel Washington in the Equalizer or shredding documents in a "what not to do" training video. As for Mike's teaching, he will be honest with you about why scenes are working or not working and help you find new ways to create successful games. When not doing improv, he'll be found playing with dogs or playing with humans or playing with strangers, he loves it, so he's always playing. (Get your mind out of the gutter.)

Kristina Smarz

Currently a member of ImprovBoston’s Mainstage, Kristina has over 20 years of experience performing, as well as directing and teaching those of all ability levels. She first joined IB in 2004 as a member of Theatersports and has since then performed with the Touring Company, Mainstage, Face Off and various showcase shows such as Slainte, Girls’ Night Out, LuvBoat, Gorefest and Spice, which she directed and co-produced. As writer and producer, Kristina was a founding member of the Ruckus and Boston News Net. She also has a handful of local commercial and theatrical credits to her name, is a member of the Improv Asylum’s NXT cast, the Majestic Theater’s in-house troupe the Majesters and is pretty handy with a pneumatic nail gun. Kristina has a BA in Theater (and English) and has studied at ImprovBoston, ImprovAsylum, Williamstown Theater Festival, numerous workshops and tends to talk to strangers. You can follow her on Twitter @Smarzipantz, but barely ever tweets so feels a pang of guilt every time she gets a new follower. She likes lots of stuff and is genuinely curious how you’re doing.

john.serpico

Teaching Style: I strongly encourage emotional honesty and real character motivation in my students, regardless of the structure we're working on. I believe that improv is a conduit for strong characters feeling strong feelings, so I direct a lot of my feedback towards that end. My hope is that my students come out of any class I teach more comfortable with expressing themselves and their characters in a very real way.

Bio: John Serpico has been performing, directing and teaching at ImprovBoston since 2005 and is currently a member of the ImprovBoston National Touring Company. He began performing as a member of the weekly show UnNatural Selection. In 2007, he joined the cast of Face Off, where he performed for five years before becoming the director in 2012. John has appeared in the casts of In The Garage (2006), Unauthorized Biography (2006), The Robert Cycle (2006), Blue Screen (2007), Groaners & Boners (2007), Quest (2007-2009, 2012, 2014), Laugh Track (2008), This Improvised Life (2012), Downton IB (2013-2014), Comedy America (2014-2017), Red Alert (2015) and Terrible People (2016-present), and was a founding member of the sketch troupe The Ruckus. His directing credits include Dear Internet (2007), Face Off (2012-2015), Quest (2014), The ImprovBoston Holiday Spectacular (2014, 2015), All-Access Improv (2015, co-director), Food Truck (2015-2016), and Oregon Fail (2015-present). John loves to teach improv and has been an instructor at the theater since 2007. He has taught workshops at the Boston Comedy Arts Festival, the North Carolina Comedy Arts Festival, and the College Comedy Festival, and for troupes throughout New England. In May of 2013, John was elected to the Board of Directors of ImprovBoston, where he serves as Treasurer.

Gregory Scott

Teaching Style: My hope is to help every student learn about who they are as an artist of improv. I push my students to take big risks, fail brilliantly, then get back up and go try it again. My class is a place for exploration, not fear. I instruct and side coach in a way that encourages students to internalize the lesson, occasionally getting them to try on a performance style that's initially uncomfortable. Let's find out what works for you and what doesn't by doing it. Discover instead of script. Commit to your emotional and physical choices. Show me what's fun, show me what's possible.

Bio: Greg originally hails from Dallas, Texas where he trained and directed at the Dallas Comedy House. He joined the ImprovBoston community four years ago as part of Harold Night. Since that time Greg has taken on several projects including Magic: The Gathering: The Show, performing with partner Ari Stern in Two Gentlemen, joining as a traveling member of Will Luera's Big Bang, performing with The ImprovBoston National Touring Company, and producing One Man Army which regularly features his solo-improv act The Greg Show. Outside of improv, Greg is a marketing professional and a major geek.
