Lori Strauss

Lori Strauss is an enthusiastic improv instructor and has been a cast member at ImprovBoston since 2010. She is a performer and director with Harold Night and has been a guest performer with Mainstage. Lori has appeared in shows such as 1.21 Jigowatts: A Tribute to Back to the Future, My Dark Love: A Twilight Parody, Space!, and Camp. In Boston, Lori shares her love of storytelling by hosting The Moth StorySLAMs. She was trained at ImprovBoston and is excited to share her passion for comedy and saying yes with her students.

Nils Vaule

Nils performs at Harold Night with BANKWOLF and teaches classes at ImprovBoston, and was formerly a member of FaceOff and Family Show. He began improvising with Bay Area Theatresports and continued to train with The Groundlings and the Upright Citizens Brigade. He teaches improv to actors and performers, as well as students interested in applying the tools of improv to areas outside of theatre, including business, design, and conflict resolution. He previously used improvisation skills every day in his work as a middle and high school English teacher in Boston.

David Marino

David Marino has been performing, writing, directing and coaching improv and scripted theater in the Boston area for over 20 years. In addition to performing with ImprovBoston MainStage for almost a decade, he produced several innovative shows exclusively for the theater including Archipelago, UnNatural Selection, Continuum, Center Mike, Code Duello, the attendance record-breaking Groaners and Boners, Red Alert!, and the award-winning Agent Spy, which was showcased at the 2004 Chicago Improv Festival. He has written and directed a number of plays and musicals throughout the region including the Boston One-Minute Play Festival, Shtick it to Vaudeville, and the critically acclaimed Pirate Lives: The Musical! Specializing in theater-based interpersonal communications David has been coaching industry leaders for over 25 years. Using creative and dynamic presentation techniques from scripted and improvisational theater, he engages with individuals, non-profit and for-profit companies to create inspiring and interactive leadership practices that demonstrate powerful and effective communication strategies. David is the founding director of Groaners for Donors, a performance-based fundraising production company “dedicated to raising money for your nonprofit organization by providing a unique comedy experience. We make the funny, you make the money!”

Ari is a cast member of ImprovBoston's Mainstage. Before that he spent 2 and a half years on Face Off. His diverse experience spans from short form games, to hour long mono scenes, to 10 week long continuous improvised story lines. He's done 1 man shows as well as shows with 19 cast members. Christine Toohey

Christine Toohey is currently a cast member of ImprovBoston's National Touring Company, an instructor with the ImprovBoston Comedy School, and the coach for the Studio 40 musical improv team The Whale and the Porpoise. Previous improv casts include Face Off, Boston’s Unscripted Musical Project (B.U.M.P.), the Family Show, The Typing Pool, Improvised Hitchcock, and Motives & Alibis. She was the lead producer for GoreFest 2014. Improv directing credits include the ImprovBoston Family Show, the Princess Hour, and the Baby-Sitters Club Super Special Improv Show. Stage credits include roles with Argos Productions, Flat Earth Theatre, Independent Drama Society, and the Longwood Players. In Boston theatre, she has worked in management for New Repertory Theatre, and in marketing for the Independent Drama Society, Huntington Theatre Company, SpeakEasy Stage Company, and Commonwealth Shakespeare Company.

Dave Sawyer

Dave Sawyer is an instructor with the IB Comedy School and an alumni of the ImprovBoston Mainstage cast. Dave has been teaching at at ImprovBoston since 2006 and was formerly the program coordinator for the popular YAP (Yes And Practice) workshops at IB. He has taught workshops at numerous festivals including the Toronto Improv Festival, the Santa Cruz Improv Festival, Slapdash Festival (London, UK), and La Semaine De L’Impro (France). Dave has directed numerous shows at ImprovBoston including Ginsburg, a former team at IB's Harold Night, and Neutrino, an improvised video format. His two-man sketch comedy show - Sawyer and Hurley – has been featured at Philly Sketchfest, Montreal Sketchfest, and the North Carolina Comedy Arts Festival.

Danny Balel

Danny Balel has been teaching and performing for over ten years. He teaches Theater at Clark University, where he oversees a Theater Education program in the Main South neighborhood of Worcester. In addition, Danny teaches at Improv Boston, everything from weekly classes, workshops, and birthday parties. Currently he is a member of Improv Boston's Touring Company and the Top Shelf Harold group Viceroy. Danny is a previous member of Comedy Sportz Boston and Magic the Gathering: the Improvised Show. He produces Cagematch, a weekly competitive show at Improv Boston. He lives in Davis Square, Somerville, and enjoys candied yams and big dogs. MB teaches Improv 101 in our Comedy School, she has formerly served as Assistant to the Managing Director, producer of the Comedy Lab and as a cast member of the ImprovBoston Family Show and Touring Company. MB also performs with "Work Lunch" and "We Fancy" locally and at festivals. She has been improvising for 30 years and doing so onstage for 8 of those years. MB wants you to come play!

Ari is a cast member of ImprovBoston's Mainstage. Before that he spent 2 and a half years on Face Off. His diverse experience spans from short form games, to hour long mono scenes, to 10 week long continuous improvised story lines. He's done 1 man shows as well as shows with 19 cast members. He loves puppies and trees and hopes you'll join him in getting silly.

Shannon Connolly

Shannon has been teaching levels 101-601 of improv for the IB comedy school for the past three years. She is truly passionate about every level that the comedy school has to offer from teaching students in 101/201 the concept of agreement and furthering a scene, 301/401 her favorite format The Harold, to long form and free form shows in 501/601. Currently, Shannon has rejoined the ImprovBoston Mainstage and performs with Top Shelf’s longest running Harold Night team, Maxitor as well as her sketch/improv/musical show, Two Biddies with veteran improviser Misch Whittaker. Shannon also coaches indie teams on the side including the studio 40 cast and former students, Disco Basement. She would like to remind you to make good choices.

Will Luera

Will Luera joined ImprovBoston in 1997 as a member of the Mainstage cast and in 2000 became the Artistic Director and director of the Mainstage cast. Will has taught classes around Boston, the US, Latin America and Asia. He has studied improvisation with ImprovOlympic, Second City, The Annoyance, The UCB, and Keith Johnstone. Will continues to direct at ImprovBoston, but also directs scripted theater around Boston.

Mike Morrell

Mike has been performing improv and stand up for the last 10 yrs. He's trained and worked in Boston (I.B/I.A), NYC (The PIT) and L.A. (IOWEST) He's created, directed and starred in shows, his favorite being Crime Solving Bear, which was hailed as, "borderline genius" He's run auditioning workshops with local casting directors. He's very good at finding what doesn't work in a scene and brainstorming options to solve that problem. If you have a problem and no one else can help...maybe you can hire...Mike Morrell.

Ben Scurria has been part of the ImprovBoston community for five years. He is cast member of ImprovBoston's Mainstage, National Touring Company and the Harold team, Rabbit. He has also been part of the cast of Face Off, Rich Uncle and countless other shows at ImprovBoston. Before moving to Boston, Ben lived and worked as an actor and teacher in Southern Vermont.
