Currently a member of ImprovBoston’s Mainstage, Kristina has over 20 years of experience performing, as well as directing and teaching those of all ability levels. She first joined IB in 2004 as a member of Theatersports and has since then performed with the Touring Company, Mainstage, Face Off and various showcase shows such as Slainte, Girls’ Night Out, LuvBoat, Gorefest and Spice, which she directed and co-produced. As writer and producer, Kristina was a founding member of the Ruckus and Boston News Net. She also has a handful of local commercial and theatrical credits to her name, is a member of the Improv Asylum’s NXT cast, the Majestic Theater’s in-house troupe the Majesters and is pretty handy with a pneumatic nail gun. Kristina has a BA in Theater (and English) and has studied at ImprovBoston, ImprovAsylum, Williamstown Theater Festival, numerous workshops and tends to talk to strangers. You can follow her on Twitter @Smarzipantz, but barely ever tweets so feels a pang of guilt every time she gets a new follower. She likes lots of stuff and is genuinely curious how you’re doing.

Danny Balel

Teaching Style: I believe in organic discovery, emotional commitment, and allowing yourself to be goofy onstage and off. My style reflects these three components. Through side coaching, targeted exercises, and the release of laughter my classes focus on breaking down inhibitions and trusting your instincts. It is my core belief that being silly is as useful as being in control.

Bio: Danny Balel has been teaching and performing for over ten years. He teaches Theater at Clark University, and he has taught in the public schools of Worcester, Boston, Cambridge, and beyond. In addition, Danny teaches at Improv Boston, everything from weekly classes, workshops, to birthday parties. Currently he is a member of Improv Boston's Touring Company and Mainstage. He also directs the Top Shelf team Ghost Light, The Greg Show: A one Man Improvised Extravaganza, and Something Wicked: Improvised Shakespearean Comedy. Danny has performed with Kevin Macdonald and Joe Bill, and has taken workshops with Mike Birbiglia, Liz Allen, and Susan Messing. He believes that improv should be playful, focused, and above all fun. He lives in Davis Square, Somerville, and enjoys candied yams, big dogs, and baking. Danny was also interviewed by Jimmy Carrane for the Improv Nerd podcast (http://jimmycarrane.com/podcasts/122-danny-balel/).

Misch Whitaker

Teaching Style: I truly enjoy introducing people to the world of improv and because of that I'm passionate about the early levels. My class is a safe, comfortable space for people to explore their creativity and imaginations without fear of judgement or failure. I move through exercises at the pace of my students and provide direct side coaching to ensure that every one is getting the most out of each drill. In between exercises I leave room for questions or clarifications so that each new skill set can be understood before moving on to the next. Each weekly class leading up to the Showcase Show ends with an opportunity for students to process and reflect with one another about their progress so that my students can grow not only as individuals but as a cohesive team who will be able to support one another fully on stage at the end of eight weeks.

Bio: Misch Whitaker, the resident director at Catalyst Comedy, has been performing and teaching improv for over ten years. Past credits include TheaterSports/FaceOff at ImprovBoston (2007-2008); NXT at Improv Asylum (2007-2008); Improv Asylum Mainstage (2008-2012) and ImprovBoston Mainstage (2013-2014). She's the smaller half of the two person musical improv show Pat and Misch Break Up, and is a member of the international touring company Big Bang. Misch coaches and teaches improv for kids of all ages at various schools and community organizations. Back at Catalyst Comedy she directs and performs with Boston's Unscripted Musical Project (B.U.M.P.), KERPLUNK! and Dirty Disney.

Dana Jay Bein

Teaching Style: I teach stand up classes using my 20 years of experience in performing, producing, booking and hosting shows to guide students toward success. I approach the classroom with a fun but firm style of leadership. I relentlessly encourage and support the vulnerability it takes to get started while also demanding originality, honesty and tenacity from my students.

Bio: "Impressive to say the least. Hilarious to say the best. Enormous, both in stature and heart. Dana Jay Bein is one of the most influential artists you will ever meet in the comedy world." - Boston Comedy Examiner DJB has been haunting ImprovBoston for over 15 years. With infectious energy, unrelenting charm and terrible puns, he's been an unwavering staple of the improv and stand up comedy scenes in Boston. He built ImprovBoston's stand up comedy program and wrote the stand up curricula for ImprovBoston's Comedy School. He's been a company cast member since 2001; he's currently traveling to schools, organizations and festivals with ImprovBoston's National Touring Company. His passion is building people up through comedy and he'll constantly reminds you to "Love yourself, take care of each other and follow your f***ing dreams." Danny Balel
