Youth Improv Troupes

ImprovBoston AFTER SCHOOL Laughter School

 
The mission of our youth programming is to encourage and nurture our young performers’ innate curiosity, creativity, and ability to make connections with others. Our professionally-trained improv coaches create a fun and welcoming environment within which aspiring improvisers can explore, develop, and succeed, contributing to their overall sense of self-confidence, well being and connectedness.
 

YOUTH & TEEN TROUPES

With our Troupes, we focus on the skills necessary to build a supportive ensemble that showcases teamwork, individual strengths and, of course, completely improvised comedy onstage (and off!). Weekly rehearsals focus on “short-form” games to foster growth in improv’s key competencies including: agreement, emotional and physical heightening, character work, give/take of focus, group mind, and basic stage awareness. Troupe rehearsals culminate in Saturday morning performances on the ImprovBoston Mainstage in weeks 6 and 10 of the program.

YOUTH TROUPE GRADES 6-8
When: Rehearses Tuesdays from 345-5pm at our theater in Central Square
Dates: 4/2 - 6/11 (no rehearsal 4/16)
Shows: 1030AM on Saturdays, 5/18 and 6/15
Prerequisite: None (No previous experience necessary). No audition required.
Maximum Number of Students: 14

TEEN TROUPE GRADES 9-12
When: Rehearses Wednesdays from 345-5pm at our theater in Central Square
Dates: 4/3 - 6/12 (no rehearsal 4/17)
Shows: 1030AM on Saturdays, 5/18 and 6/15
Prerequisite: Previous improv or theater experience recommended. No audition required.
Maximum Number of Students: 14
