Summer COMEDY CAMP Ages 8-10, Starts 7/29/13

For a description of this class, please see the YOUTH 101 ComedyClinics page.

ImprovBoston's Summer Comedy Camps

Spend your summer at New England’s premiere comedy camp. Our professionally-trained instructors represent some of Boston’s best and most experienced improvisational comedians. We create a fun and supportive environment within which students can explore, develop, and succeed.  While improvisation is best known for the power to amaze and entertain through hilarious performances, the fundamentals of the art also set forth a creative process leading to support, engagement, trust, and applied risk-taking off-stage as well as on.

NO PREVIOUS IMPROV COMEDY EXPERIENCE NECESSARY

Each session runs Monday-Friday from 10AM - 3PM at our theater in Central Square.

Extended Day care 9AM - 4PM is available when you register.

An end-of-camp performance takes place at 2PM on Friday of this session.

Tuition is $275 for one week programs.

Sibling Discount: When at least 2 campers register TOGETHER for the same week, you save $25 per child! Campers must register at the same time and with a single payment.

Financial assistance may be available. High School students with improv experience may also apply for our youth internship program.

Deana Criess

Teaching Style: I am your biggest cheerleader, your biggest fan and your most supportive critic. You learn and get better when I am doing my job, and my job is to tell you what you need to work on. I will set you up for success, I will give you the tools to achieve what I am asking of you, and I will assume you can do this - because if we have the right approach you can. We will work, you will be pushed and all the while you will know that I am on your side. There will be sweat, there will be challenges, and there will always be joy.

Bio: Deana Criess is the Director of ImprovBoston’s National Touring Company and is a member of ImprovBoston's Mainstage and Musical Improv Casts. She is also the co-director with Ben Scurria of Over the Line, part of the Last Laugh late night improv series. Deana performs and teaches at festivals, theaters, Fortune 500 companies and colleges around the country. Her industry leading workshops have been featured on PBS, NPR, KBS (the Korean Broadcasting System) and in The Boston Globe. Her comedy has been featured on CNN and Slate.com. A veteran instructor in ImprovBoston’s Comedy School, she has over 15 years of professional experience with audiences of all ages performing and teaching longform and shortform improvisation as well as sketch writing and stand up comedy. During her years in comedy she has worked with some amazing artists including Dan Castellaneta (The Simpsons), Laura Hall (Whose Line Is It Anyway), Eric Drysdale (Full Frontal), Josh Gondelman (Last Week Tonight), Anthony Atamanuik (The President Show), Jen Kirkman (Drunk History), Janeane Garofalo, Kevin McDonald (Kids In The Hall), Dave Razowsky (Second City) and many more.
