Steve Gilbane

STEPHEN GILBANE has been accompanying improv troupes and teaching improvisers to make up songs on the spot since joining ImprovBoston in 1992, when the troupe developed their signature longform improvised musical format. He was artistic director (1999-2005) of Musical Improv Company, an improvisational troupe that specialized in developing and performing full-length improvised musicals, and currently is music director of Hidden Falls, ImprovBoston’s house musical improv cast. He has composed music for nine of ImprovBoston’s annual Halloween scripted musical Gorefest productions, and co-written several short musicals and one full-length show (Showstopper! A High-Tech Musical, based on a startup company in the mid-1980’s). He was composer & co-lyricist for Pirate Lives, a full-length musical involving Noel Coward characters and pirates, that premiered in Boston in 2012.
