For a description of this class, please see the YOUTH AFTER SCHOOL LAUGHTER SCHOOL page.
ImprovBoston After School Laughter School
The mission of our youth programming is to encourage and nurture our young performers’ innate curiosity, creativity, and ability to make connections with others. Our professionally-trained improv coaches create a fun and welcoming environment within which aspiring improvisers can explore, develop, and succeed, contributing to their overall sense of self-confidence, well being and connectedness.
Youth & Teen Troupes
With our Troupes, we focus on the skills necessary to build a supportive ensemble that showcases teamwork, individual strengths and, of course, completely improvised comedy onstage (and off!). Weekly rehearsals focus on “short-form” games to foster growth in improv’s key competencies including: agreement, emotional and physical heightening, character work, give/take of focus, group mind, and basic stage awareness. Troupe rehearsals culminate in Saturday morning performances after weeks 6 and 10 of the program.

Corey O’Rourke is a graduate of Suffolk University with a degree in Theater Studies, and English. He began doing Improv in 2006 and since then has worked with many companies and performers. Corey has taken classes and been through the training centers of multiple theaters. He has performed and worked with Improv Asylum, Catalyst Comedy, Urban Improv, and ImprovBoston. Corey was on the original cast of Boston’s Unscripted Musical Project, he spent years performing anywhere he could. Corey found a home at ImprovBoston in the fall of 2013, Joining the ImprovBoston National Touring Company, and was an original cast member of All Access Improv. In that time, Corey has worked hard to grow the brand and to expand the work that the company does. He works often with the community’s youth, in schools and after school, through youth troupes and anti-bullying initiatives. Corey is so proud of all of the work that ImprovBoston does, and couldn’t be any more excited to start a new Journey with All Access.
