BASICS OF COMEDIC SONGWRITING 

Choruses, taglines and bridges, oh my. In just 3 jam-packed weeks, students will learn the ins and outs of writing funny songs. ImprovBoston TourCo director and former Second City music director Mike Descoteaux breaks comedicsongwriting down into easy-to-use concepts guaranteeing success for students of every experience level.  From the craft of rhyming to developing comedic angles to exploring the relationship between characters and music, this intensive study will get participants' pens going and rhythm flowing. Previous musical experience is welcome but by no means necessary for this course.

Mike Descoteaux

Mike Descoteaux is the Artistic Director of ImprovBoston and director of IB TourCo. With The Second City in Chicago, he founded their Music Program, taught in the Training Center, and was music director of the ETC stage. Mike teaches workshops in songwriting, musical improv and music direction at festivals and for clients around the world. He is the founder of the critically acclaimed satire Best Church of God and former director of the celebrated Charles River Creative Arts Program.
