YAP Practice Group

YAP Group (The "Yes And Practice Group") is Boston’s premier drop-in improv workshop open to all players from novice to intermediate.  Considered part of Improv Boston’s training ground, YAP Group allows players to develop their skills under the tutelage of a variety of well-known visiting directors from Boston’s improv scene.  During our practice sessions we explore elements of improvisational comedy such as character work, short form genres and group interaction just to name a few. 
 
Please feel free to drop in and join us to play, network, and learn.  Come once, come often - just don’t come late!
 
PARTICIPANTS
Players with a basic understanding of improv and/or acting experience.
 
TIME & PLACE
Sundays from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM

COST
YAP is $10 per session.  You can make your YAP purchase ahead of time online (recommended), or at the class. You can purchase a YAP Membership good for 5 sessions for $40 (the fifth session is FREE),The link to purchase YAP Memberships and individual YAP Classes is coming soon.  For now you can pay at the class, but check back soon to purchase online.

PURPOSE
To get some extra practice time for sharpening improv skills.
 
DIRECTOR
A variety of Instructors from ImprovBoston's training program provide their unique guidance, allowing the group to experience a variety of perspecitives.
 
FORMAT
We concentrate primarily on scenework. We do some side coaching and direction, but we want to focus on this just being practice with the overall purpose of improving scenework. If participants want to work on specific elements of improv, e.g., character work, object work, short form games, etc., we can explore those things in more depth, depending on what the needs/wants of the group are.  Our goal is to help improvisers get to a point where they feel they are performance-ready.
