    Frequently Asked Questions

How do I register for classes?
Click the links above to view class schedules and register for classes. Make sure you enter your child's name in the Comments field during Credit Card processing. There is a June 1st registration deadline for all July classes and a July 1st registration deadline for all August classes. There is a maximum registration of 24 students per class, and a minimum registration of 6 students per class.

What if I need extended care?
Early drop off for grades 1-8 is before 8:45 and after 3PM (for middle school or After the Show registered students). Students may be dropped off as early as 8AM ($10) or as late as 5:00PM ($20). You may choose to pay by check or pay by CC. Parents should email workshops@improvboston.com and list dates you plan on early drop off/late pick up. During these times, students will be able to watch an all age appropriate movie, read, play games, color, help with small tasks, etc. Some structured activities will happen in the afternoon.

    Who are the instructors?
Our instructors are teachers during the school year and work with students of all ages. Teacher to student ratio is one to twelve. ImprovBoston staff are also present during the day.

Where does my child get lunch?
Students will need to bring a lunch with them (no nuts, please). We do not have enough refrigeration for everyone, so we recommend bringing cool packs if they are needed. High School students may leave to get lunch with written permission from parents. Middle School (grades 5-8) and High School students will have a lunch break at noon. Students in grades 1-4 may choose to have a snack instead of lunch. They will eat lunch at 11.

Which age group should I register my child for?
Registration is for students entering a particular grade, but students on the cusp may register for either session. In other words, if your child is currently in 8th grade and entering 9th in the fall of 2008, you may register them for the grades 5-8 program or the 9-12 program, depending on their interests and whether there is a preference to be oldest or youngest in their class.

What if I am registering more than child?
You will receive at 10% discount. Please contact Elyse Schuerman, Managing Director, at 617-576-1253 to arrange payment via Credit Card.

Who developed the ImprovBoston summer curriculum?
Our improv curriculum was developed by Will Luera, Artistic Director. He has studied improv for 11 years and taught improvisation to all ages for 8 years. Our non-improv curriculum was developed by Deana Tolliver, Director of Training and Sales, and Elyse Schuerman, Managing Director. Deana has worked with students of all ages with a recent focus on early education. She has a bachelors degree from Emerson and has had extensive improv training through ImprovBoston. Elyse Schuerman has a Bachelors degree in Theater and Education from Flagler College (St. Augustine, FL) and has taught at local summer and school year camps, including programs at the Agassiz Outback Camp and Baldwin Afterschool. Instructors bring their own education and flavor to the curriculum. For complete bios, please visit our Artistic Staff page.
